A voyage to myself
When we transition, we all start a voyage to our true self. This voyage has many steps, all depending on the person we are and the "initial material" we are. There are no rules how we must do this. I mean by this, the order of possible procedure we will / must undergo. For sure, there are many countries that have very strict rules, forcing us through many, often dehumanizing, procedures. But this first article of a small series is about a procedure that is not imposed on us: FFS or Facial Feminization Surgery.
Just read what Wikipedia tells you about the procedures that are possible, and then try to imagine why we are willing to undergo such a harsh procedure, because for many of us there are many changes to be done.
Most of us easily pass when out, but there are situations where you never a sure of the reaction of others. The only reason to undergo this, is to be able to fully disappear between all others. We call it "going stealth". Even in the morning, when the postman rings on our door, and we have to open, hair still in disorder, no make-up, no cute dress, … . Well, it will be a pleasure, when the postman immediately sorts us into our real gender (1).
Tomorrow morning, at 05:40 ( Chicago area ) I will leave the hotel for my FFS. I will return to the hotel, in the caring arms of my nurse late in the afternoon, my face completely reworked, swollen to death, bruised, unable to speak properly, unable to eat something else than babyfood, if any. I will be filled up with drugs against pain and anxiety. Here now comes the hard part of it: healing out all this stuff. At the end of all this, there will be our very own self slowly emerging as the healing process goes on. It will be a hard time, but the results are for a life.
Don’t expect to see any gory pics. I won’t publish any of these. I just want to help others understand and prepare to their own way through this, if they feel so. The only pictures you will see very later on is a before/after comparison. Waiting here for my term to come I collected a lot of little tips and tricks about easing the after-FFS process. I think these will be helpful.
