New Irish transgender laws ‘will break up families’

"Irish proposals designed to give transgender people more rights will break up happy families, trans campaigners say.

The plans say that trans people who married in their old gender will have to divorce or legally separate in order to be recognised in their new gender, regardless of whether they remain in a loving relationship with their partner.

Ireland does not currently give legal recognition to people who change sex. Yesterday, minister for social protection Joan Burton launched a report by the Gender Recognition Advisory Group as a precursor to legislation which will be introduced next year."

Dear politicians, dear SANE politicians of Ireland: please don’t vote in favor of such an mental aberration. As far as I know, your constitution is protecting families. Then, such a law will be against your constitution.

"Ms Burton, speaking at the launch, said that allowing trans people to stay married when they are officially recognised in their new gender would be “constitutionally unsound”, as Ireland does not recognise gay marriage."

Luxembourg does not have any specific transgender law. Luxembourg still doesn’t have same sex marriage. Until recently, we all, Transgender, have been forced through separation and divorce in order to have our birth certificate amended. Recently a trial ended this procedure, that was nowhere written down in a law, as unconstitutional. So, now transgender people can they married and have all amendments.

You should be aware that anyhow most marriages where a person comes out as trans break up. Far too many with children. Have you ever thought about the horror imposed on the children by a divorce? And now you are ready to legally force this to be the only outcome for families? What about your constitution? Don’t you have a constitutional protection of the children? If you have, are you aware that, again, you will create a law against your constitution?

Are you willing to ignore all of the human rights you will violate by doing so? Ireland, being deeply catholic, are you willing to ignore your own faith, that commands you to love your next, yes, even your enemy? Are you aware what a few bigots, eaten up by their hate of everything outside of their understanding, are forcing you into?

Are you thinking of the consequences of breaking up a family? Can those people you will force into divorce at least afford to suddenly have to live separated, afford the costs of two households? Is Ireland SO RICH, that it could afford to have to support one or more persons of a formerly healthy household? I really doubt about that! Is it constitutional to force people into poverty, just because of some bigots driven by the catholic church? Again, I doubt about that.

Can you stand the pain you will see in the eyes of the wife, of the husband, of each and every child? If you do you have harts of stone, not worth to be called human.

Don’t tell me now that all this is the choice of the trans person. THERE IS NO CHOICE! There are just two options. One of them is called suicide, the other one is called transitioning. Yes, many, if not all of us, especially when married with children, opt for the last, as in any case we want to stand by our beloved family.

Just can you imagine the pain we endure, not only the trans person, no, everybody? No, you don’t. Why don’t you go out there and ask? Why don’t you try at least one time in your whole political life, no simply in your life, to take an INFORMED decision, a decision NOT based on prejudice? Do you really think that it is a sane decision, just to copy the laws of a neighbor? Do you know how many people fight against these laws? do you really? I deeply doubt about that!
